Downtime

Yup, we had downtime.  Sorry.

Apologies for the varied downtime over the past day, the first set was caused by peering/networking problems at our provider.  The second was caused by a bug in our code that was caused by a loss of networking prior, this in turn caused database corruption and thus extended the downtime.

I apologise sincerely for this inconvenience, we’re currently working on moving hosting companies to one with more reliance as this isn’t the first time they’ve bitten us.  The bug that caused the corruption has also been fixed so this particular situation doesn’t reoccur.

The good news is, we’re back online and experienced no loss.  Thanks for putting up with the downtime with minimal fuss and enjoy the game!

Score Changes

You may notice a slight change in your score if you have a statue or a storehouse over level 20.  This is intended and may be subject to increase in the future (not decrease).  This was the result of a bug fix today.

Encrypted Islandor

Islandor is now available via HTTPS meaning its encrypted and secure, Firefox will display a blue bar in your address bar to signal this.  Chrome will display the entire address bar yellow and Internet Explorer displays a padlock.

Previously your password was transferred in raw text (like all sites using standard HTTP) meaning anyone who can “sniff” your network is able to see your password and hijack your session or account.  When using HTTPS this is transmitted encrypted so is unable to be “sniffed”, this is the same technology banks and other financial services use.

All logins are now forced over https (even if you use http) to eliminate password sniffing.  If you wish to view the entire homepage over https use the https://islandor.com URL, notice the additional “s” compared to the insecure http://islandor.com

Hi all,

I haven’t forgotten!  I’ve been working on back end stuff, hence the lack of visible changes recently.  But rest assured, things are still in full flow.

Huge thanks to all the bugs people have found recently, much appreciated!  Multiple patches have been made over the past few days to fix a few minor things, mainly visual changes.

Also, just a note on the multi situation.  I’m aware of multiple multies within the game, do not worry, they’re not off the hook.  Just letting them sweat :-)
Keep the reports incoming, they’re very appreciated.

Once again, thanks for playing!

Good advice from Google regarding picking a secure password.

Mail mass-delete

You can now mass delete messages and reports by clicking the checkbox above the per-message checkboxes.  No more manual clicking!

With thanks to bri :-)

Reports

Reports and mail are now separated, which should hopefully help people find things easier.  Mail system is due to be rewritten anyhow, this is only a temporary solution.

Barracks bug fix

Fixed a bug in the barracks that prevented you queuing stone throwers if you already had something in the queue.

Quick attack button

A quick attack button has now been added to all island pages (accessible from the map) so you not longer have to enter the coordinates manually.

Update: A few people have asked why kirby is in this picture; it’s nothing personal, they’re simply the closest isle to me and thus were quicker to get to.  People have also asked why kriby’s score is so outdated - This is because I use an outdated database backup to develop from (rather than developing on the live database - which is a BAD idea).  It’s not because the feature was developed weeks ago but not launched, it was developed and launched yesterday.
